The Horse Pull - #1211

In the early 1900's when farmers farmed with horses, can't you see a farmer calling his neighbor out, "I bet my horses can pull more than yours".  Soon this friendly wager would become a competition between several farmers.

What a better place to hold this competition that at the local county fairs.  "The Horse Pull", is an event of strength and quickness displayed by a pair of mighty equine athletes hooked to a stone-boat upon which weight was added for the team to pull the distance of 27'-6".  Weights were added until just one of the teams could make the pull and that made for a proud champion, horses do have pride and the winning team would strut its stuff.  Another proud owner was able to brag for a year.

Original watercolor by PaPa Giz, part of a series of eight from the County Fair - 14"x10" - #1211 - Phone or e-mail for pricing.  Prints will also be available.
