A Bed of Trilliums - #0706

bed of trilliums

Also called Wake Robin or Snow Trillium. Trillium Grandiflorum, grandiflorum means large flowered. Derived from a Latin word, Trillium means “sets of three”; 3 leaves, 3 petals, 3 sepals, and 3 stigmas. The names Wake Robin and Snow Trillium may refer to the fact that it blooms in early spring when the robins return and snow may still be present. It takes six years for a Trillium to progress from seed to flower. Trilliums most often bloom in beds of multiple plants, forming a carpet of white. Habitat: rich deciduous wooded areas.

Original watercolor by PaPa Giz – 6" x 12" - #0706 - SOLD. Prints still available.
